If its wood garden beds you’re in the market for there are a few key things you need to knwo when deciding which wood garden beds are best suited to you. the three main types of timbers used are Cypress, Red gum, and special ACQ treated pine a "safer" type of treated pine.
If you’re looking for a natural pine coloured raised garden bed then cypress is probably the best option. cypress is a "class 1" timber, (the highest durability rating available) and is an excellent natural wood for all garden beds. Cypress is also used for fence and sign posts due to its excellent durability pr
operties. The oils contained within the timber repel termites and other wood eating pests and make the timber very rot resistant. The cypress we used is sustainably grown in Australia.
Red gum also makes excellent wood garden beds; however Red gum is a very heavy hard wood, which makes cutting it and drilling it much harder than soft wood alternatives. Red gum is also used extensively for fence posts The CSIRO also rates red gum as a "class 1" durability timber. The superb colour of red gum wood garden beds makes them a great garden centrepiece.
Some people just love treated pine, I do not recommend treated pine for any garden beds, but if you must ACQ is the best choice as it shouldn’t have any chromium or arsenic. These two poisonous heavy metals are absorbed through the roots of the plant and stored in the growth. Arsenic is poisonous in very small concentrations and has a tendency to build-up in humans.

Wicking beds
We now stock wicking bed boxes, these are a great alternative to high drainage sand. Garden beds require less fill and can hold more water, lasting longer between the hot weeks in the peak of summer.
