The 5 key benefits of timber garden beds:

1. Timber is a natural product, it decomposes naturally helping with the growth of your vegetables, unlike plastics that often decompose to form unfavourable chemicals.

2. Timber is 100% UV resistant, If you live in Australia you should know how brittle and faded plastics go when left out in the sun. There’s no better naturally UV resistant material than Timberfour timber garden beds

3. Use the right timber for the raised garden beds. As Australia we are blessed with two of the best high durability and natural woods going around, Cypress and red gum. (Cypress is not to be confused the less durable with cedar). We don’t recommend using treated pine, however there are some “safer” treated timbers available such as ACQ. This does not include CCA treated pine. Don’t use CCA.

4. The beautiful qualities of timber garden beds complement all gardens, you may either choose to let them weather and turn a lovely shale grey colour, or you can oil your timber maintaining the original finish.

5. It's great news that trees are a sustainable resource (they can be replanted and replaced), the timbers that we use for our timber garden beds are sustainably grown here in Australia. While trees grow into timber they absorb carbon dioxide so every piece of timber harvested is actually alot better than carbon natural compared with metal and plastic which require extensive mining and crude oil.

Wicking beds

We now stock wicking bed boxes, these are a great alternative to high drainage sand. Garden beds require less fill and can hold more water, lasting longer between the hot weeks in the peak of summer.
